ORIS x Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Join Forces
Oris, as the Official Timekeeper of Lord’s Cricket Ground, has unveiled the Father Time Limited Edition Big Pointer Crown watch, inspired by the iconic weathervane known as Father Time atop Lord’s clock tower. The watch symbolizes Oris's partnership with MCC, the world's most active cricket club and guardian of the Laws of the game.
The collaboration extends beyond cricket, reflecting a shared commitment to positive change. Oris and MCC work together on various community initiatives, including educational, social, and sports events locally and globally. Their joint efforts include hosting an Oris Change for the Better Day, where they teamed up to clean up plastic waste from London's streets. Both entities are dedicated to the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals, advocating for local, social, and environmental actions to drive global change.
The ORIS x MCC Big Crown Pointer Date Inspiration
In the 1920s, architect Sir Herbert Baker gifted the Father Time weathervane to Lord’s Cricket Ground's owners as an apology for a delayed building project. This cast iron figure, symbolizing the passage of time and possibly representing a cricket law, became iconic. Oris celebrates its partnership with MCC through the Father Time Limited Edition watch, based on the Big Crown Pointer Date design, continuously produced since 1938.
The 40mm bronze case, fluted bezel, and crown age naturally, accompanied by a bronze bracelet and sustainable deer leather strap. The stainless steel case back features an engraving of Father Time, and the limited edition is limited to 1,926 pieces, marking the weathervane's gifting year. The watch houses the Swiss Made Oris Calibre 754 automatic movement with a pointer date function.
