TAG Heuer and fragment design are back together for their third collaboration, and it feels like a natural continuation of the design dialogue they began in 2018. This new release—the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph x fragment Limited Edition—leans into clarity, restraint, and the clean contrasts that define Hiroshi Fujiwara’s work. Known globally as the godfather of streetwear, Fujiwara brings his minimalist precision and deep appreciation for mechanical watches into a model that has long been a cornerstone of TAG Heuer’s identity.

For Fujiwara, the goal was never to reinvent the Carrera but to reveal its structure through careful decisions. He’s said that every detail must earn its place, and that mindgset shows up everywhere in this edition. Antoine Pin, TAG Heuer’s CEO, echoes the sentiment, noting the collaboration reflects a shared understanding that true identity doesn’t require reinvention—only refinement. It’s that philosophy that makes the TAG Heuer Fragment partnership feel so cohesive.

The foundation, of course, is the Carrera itself. Introduced in 1963 by Jack Heuer, the watch was built for drivers who needed pure legibility and precision. Clean lines, intuitive spacing, and purposeful proportions made it a chronograph that felt modern from the beginning. Over the decades, the Carrera evolved without losing that clarity, and the recent glassbox generation has given the line a new visual depth. The domed crystal, curved flange, and layered dial architecture create dimension without sacrificing readability—an ideal platform for Fujiwara’s style.

His relationship with TAG Heuer runs deeper than aesthetics. Both brands value purposeful design and subtle disruption, which explains why their first two collaborations became instant favorites among collectors. The 2018 Carrera fragment edition stripped the design to its essentials, while the 2020 Formula 1 collab pushed a bolder contrast-driven look. Both leaned heavily on Fujiwara’s black-and-white palette. Now, the partnership returns to the Carrera, but with the added sophistication of the glassbox construction.

A Clean, Confident Return to the Tag Heuer Carrera w/ Fragment

The new 39mm TAG Heuer Fragment release is crisp and intentional from the first glance. The black opalin dial absorbs light softly, giving the watch a smooth texture, while the white curved flange draws the eye inward and reinforces the clean contrast throughout. All markings across the dial and subdials use silver printing to keep everything cohesive. The fragment lightning bolt makes subtle appearances, including a clever detail on the personalized date wheel: the fragment symbol replaces the 1 and 11 numerals.

Even the bracelet carries the design language. TAG Heuer’s revived beads-of-rice bracelet returns here with a twist—black PVD is applied to the central links, extending the dial’s contrast directly onto the wrist. It’s one of those small touches that makes the watch feel thoroughly considered.

Inside the watch is TAG Heuer’s in-house Calibre TH20-00, offering an 80-hour power reserve along with a column wheel and vertical clutch for smooth chronograph engagement. Through the sapphire caseback, the movement’s shield-shaped rotor stands out with bold black graphics, reinterpreting the TAG Heuer emblem in Fujiwara’s visual style. The fragment logo is printed directly on the caseback crystal as well, giving the rear view a distinct identity. A Victory Wreath engraving around the caseback edge nods to Jack Heuer’s tradition of gifting gold watches to victorious race drivers—a subtle but meaningful connection to the brand’s motorsport history.

Practicality hasn’t been sacrificed. The watch features 100 meters of water resistance, and the glassbox sapphire has double anti-reflective treatment. Dimensions come in at 39mm in diameter, 46mm lug-to-lug, and 13.9mm thick—well-balanced proportions that suit daily wear.

TAG Heuer also created special packaging for this release, finishing everything in black and white with both logos presented cleanly. The watch comes in a sleek black box with an embossed pouch inside, reflecting the visual language of the piece itself.

Only 500 individually numbered units will be produced, and given the cult status of the first two collaborations, the new TAG Heuer Fragment Carrera is almost guaranteed to draw interest from both watch collectors and design-focused buyers. The watch will be available starting December 2025, with an SRP of 8,150 CHF.

The result is a collaboration that doesn’t shout, doesn’t chase trends, and doesn’t rely on gimmicks. Instead, the TAG Heuer Fragment partnership continues to thrive on clarity, proportion, and purpose. The new Carrera feels like a thoughtful evolution—one that respects the past while giving the present something beautifully distilled.
